River Walk River Weaver - Predator Fishing - Sunday 16th October 10 a.m.

Dont forget our predator river walk on the Weaver - Sunday 16th October from the Red Lion at 10.00 am. Come and walk the river with Richard our bailiff and learn more about predator fishing on your local river. Richard will be tackling up some rods to show you various techniques and concentrating on certain sections of the river. Bookings to Jan on email nantwichas@aol.com or 0776 4760410

Nice to see so many members who came on this day and particularly some juniors. The day was practical with members trying out various fishing methods and they picked up lots of new ideas to try out on their next trip.

After our last walk a number of members went back to the Red Lion and decided to enjoy a carvery lunch, thank you for the feedback and glad you enjoyed such a good lunch to complete your day.

Come and see us at Cheshire Game and Angling Fair - Peover Park - 7th August

We had some excellent demonstations from Terry SInclair from Stapeley Angling Centre with the fly tying and Nick who was demonstrating tying rigs. Derek Turner was also doing fly casting demonstrations - and "have a go" sessions which lots of people tried out.

Nantwich Angling Society
features in Staffordshire Sentinel article 25/4/2011

http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/news/Life-stories-record-new-title/article-3484084-detail/article.html

AUTHOR Gareth Roberts has compiled a book celebrating the experiences of his town's stalwarts.

The former fireman's new release, Nantwich Life, is packed with 35 stories from various local residents who each share their experiences of living in the South Cheshire town.
Another contributor is Jan Wilson, who is secretary of the Nantwich Angling Society.
The 52-year-old finance worker, from Nantwich, said: "In my story Hooked On Fishing I just talk about my interest in fishing and role with the society.
"I wanted to let people know about the history of the fishing club and what we are doing now".
"This book is really good as when people pass away their memories go with them but this is a way of saving them." The book also has numerous photographs as well as some featuring the fishing society.

The book, priced £9.95, is available at
Nantwich Bookshop.
NEW WATER
Trent & Mersey Canal- Middlewich

Nantwich Angling Society has joined a consortium of 7 local angling societies in order to secure the lease on the 3 mile stretch at Middlewich (bridge 163 - 167) which was formerly held by the Cheshire Anglers match group.
We believe this venture will mark the beginning of new relationships which will help to keep the management of fisheries in mid-Cheshire in the hands of the angling clubs based in this area and for the benefit of people who live here.

Good News for members - Cost of Membership Held - No increase for 2011 - NO JOINING FEES

Why dont YOU enter the catch photographs competition for 2011?

Looking for new members to the club committee

However we still have lots of areas which will continue to remain undeveloped due to too few committee members. Some areas we would really like to develop, to name but a few, include an active junior section, a match section (to include a competent matchteam) and a fisheries management section (including bailiffs).

Regardless of your area of enthusiasm or expertise, if you feel you have something which you feel could help the club move forward then please get in touch with the secretary via the email address on this letter and we will then arrange an informal chat.

Found - Are you missing a middle section of your fishing pole?

One of our members has found a pole middle section in Nantwich on the River Weaver behind the lake while he was fishing. Somewhere someone else has not realised they have left a piece of the pole behind and are probably wondering where the hell it is? (if it was mine I know i would ...!!).

Can i also thank the member who has contacted me and took the time to take the section back home for safekeeping until we find the owner.
If they want to contact me on nantwichas@aol.com or 0776 4760410 I will gladly reunite them with it.

NANTWICH SHOW on Wednesday 28th July
DORFOLD PARK, NANTWICH CW5 8LD

Thank you to everyone that took the time to visit us in the Countryside Arena of the show. It was nice to meet quite a few of our members and we would also like to welcome the new members who joined at the show. What was really encouraging were the number of youngsters asking about fishing or parents returning to fishing after many years away because their children now wanted to go.

We had our display stand and also a dvd display of our waters and fish caught. People were very enthuastic and suprised at what fish had been caught on the River Weaver in Nantwich as well as the other rivers we offer for the price of our season ticket.

We were also well supported by the Environment Agency who loaned us banners on fishing as well as supplying booklets which proved a very popular give away with young and older people alike.
