Rod Licence Renewals
Please be aware of the following scam site
Anglers Beware
There is an outfit currently operating on the internet who are adding massive handling charges for processing Environment Agency rod licences.
Be advised that this site adds BIG handling charges to the cost of your rod licence
http://www.rodlicence.net/
The site operates by adding a Pop Up box via some search engines when you actually visit the official Post Office site.
A box with words to the effect of Rod licence online and /or Rod Licence Application Processing Services offers to handle your application.
Use either the E.A. site or your local post office.
Adam Dugdale
One of our new ways to advertise the Fishing club was to sponsor the shirt of Crewe Alex footballer Adam Dugdale during the 2012 - 2013 season. Adam and his partner Nicola became parents to a son Jude at the end of March. But sadly young Jude passed away a few weeks later. Our thoughts are with Adam and Nicola at this time. Last week the club received a lovely message from Adam thanking the Society for all our support during such a difficult time.
2013 Prices Unchanged
The 2013 membership prices remain unchanged for yet another year. Membership cards are now available in the shops or by mail from the Secretary.
Runcorn Angling has reopened after closing under new ownership.
Stapeley Angling has now closed in Nantwich and is now open at its new location - Clay Lane adjacent to Lakemore Fisheries (details in new membership booklet).
Nantwich Angling Society fish for new members by sponsoring Division 1 Footballers shirt
As one of the ways of publicising the Angling Society to a wider audience, Nantwich Angling Society have sponsored the home and away shirt of Adam Dugdale, centre half of Divison 1 Crewe Alexandra.
We discused as a committee that new ways were needed to reach out and publicise our club to prospective members not only in the local area but to a wider audience.
A lot of football fans participate in other sports and lots of our current members also follow the Alex. Football has changed a lot over the years with more families going and we see similarities with fishing as its a sport that all the family can enjoy together whatever their ages or gender.
Before the Alex v Coventry match - Nantwich secretary Jan Wilson met with Adam who told her he comes from a family that enjoys angling too and the club is looking forward to getting Adam fishing on the local River Weaver in Nantwich when time permits and it will be interesting to see if his fishing skills match his football talent.
As part of the sponsorship the club are featured in the matchday programme and we are planning to run some competitions for our members to win tickets for the Alex in our members fishing photograph competition for our 2013 membership.

So who is going to the show this year ? We were but sadly due to the weather conditions and the showground being unfit to hold the show it has been sadly cancelled. Sad because so much work goes on behind the scenes all year to stage the show and as a club we help as one of the organisers of the Countryside Pursuits area.

Whitchurch Fishing Tackle
Whilst all of our current membership shops show us brilliant support in selling our membership and we are more than happy to support them in every way we possibly can to promote them as well.
Sadly this is not the case from one of them in 2011 who has badly let the society down and members who paid over their money in good faith to the shop but sadly the club have never received it.
Chris Mills who ran Whitchurch Fishing Tackle has not only managed to owe our club money for his membership sales but has also incurred further costs to the society in having to engage legal services in trying to recover our debt. Whilst he is quite happy to promise the society the money owed on numerous occasions , he is evidently not as happy to take the time to respond to solicitors correspondence. Sadly this not only applies to our society but to another local angling society near Whitchurch as well who are in the same situation as ourselves.
It would be interesting in any other parties are also owed monies as well? The society would love to hear from you if you are.
Nantwich Angling Fly Tying Group -Come and learn how to tie your own fishing flies
We are very pleased to announce we are going to start our own fly tying nights with Terry Sinclair at the Red Lion, Barony - from 6 pm on a Wednesday night twice a month . We have nice quiet room upstairs just perfect for you to learn some new skills and meet fellow anglers too. Terry is a brilliant teacher and easy to learn from with his step by step demonstrations whilst talking you through as you make the fly yourself.
Terry will be bringing along some extra fly tying gear like tying vices so dont worry if your dont have any gear to start! Both beginners and more advanced tyers will be catered for. Terry has worked alongside NAS for many years at Nantwich and Peover show demonstrating his excellent fly tying skills.
For those of you that are driving you can also get tea and coffee and for those walking a pint too!
A lot of you will know Terry from Stapeley Angling.

Rod section found on River Weaver
Found a rod section by the river on 30/12/11. It looks to be an extension piece that fits into a butt section to turn a rod from 11ft to a 13ft, like the 'John Wilson' series. It looks brand spanking new.
Many thanks for Eddie Cardus for picking this up and notifying us.
Rod section can be collected by seeing Richard at the Red Lion on the Barony.
River Dee - Please note this is no longer on our card as of 31st December 2011
